The Dutch phone system is due for a major overhaul.
On October 10, 1995, more than half of the area codes and
phone numbers in the Netherlands will be changed overnight.
Free info is available from Dutch PTT at 06-0096. A booklet,
a list, and free MS-DOS software may be ordered there.
NLphoneConv.fmpr is intended for the rest of us, but after conversion it can also be used by proud owners of FMPR for Windows!
This file effects conversion of old phone numbers to the
corresponding new numbers, independently of the original input formatting.
Single phone numbers, lists of phone numbers from other
applications, and FilemakerPro files can be converted.
There is a dummy text field (called Id@ntL@bel) that you can
use to carry along identifying info with your phone numbers.
Error detection: Some non-existent phone numbers and missing or extra digits are spotted.
After registration the formulae can be incorporated into your own FilemakerPro databases to give running conversion as phone numbers
are entered, saving you a sleepless night on Oct 10. This involves some
overhead, so it is useful mainly for large data files.

Requirements: MacPlus or better, System 6 and later,
any version of FilemakerPro, about 500K free disk space for
each thousand phone numbers to be converted,
coffee supply depending on your machine speed and file size.
There are two versions of the file, one with faster calculation at the cost of more storage, use this if time is more important than storage, and one with less storage and slower calculation, the preferred one, when time does not matter. Both files will run on all Macs. Large files on a Plus takes a loooooooong time, run overnight.
NLphoneConv.fmpr is SHAREWARE. The shareware fee is:
1) Postcardware for private or non-profit use for non-registered users.
Single number, list conversion, and file conversion is accessible.
2) Dfl 25,- for small business use. (Less than 10 computers on site)
3) Dfl 100,- for one unlimited site licence.
Paid database consultants must ensure that the shareware payment is made for each site where they install the software.
For registered users, who have obtained the password upon payment, it is also possible to copy the field definitions into their own database to obtain running conversion.
The shareware fee is due irrespective of cost (BBS fees, floppy duplication charges, ect.) you may have made to obtain a copy of this file.
So once more in plain terms:
The shareware fee is required for all business use, whether you use the password or not.
The password is available for registered, paying users.
Non-profit use without password (already fully functional) is free.
Payments should be made into Postbank account 1518757, J. J. Lodder, Utrecht, or by postcheck, Eurocheck, or in cash.
Do not try to transfer small amounts through the international
banking system, charges extorted in this antiquated system
may be larger than the amount transferred.
Be sure to include your (E-mail) adress for updates.
Support the shareware concept in the Netherlands,
if you do use this software in a profitmaking context you should pay the shareware fee.
